It’s a tradition that I see a movie before, on the day or after my birthday. This year’s movie choice is “The Dark Tower”.
I started reading the book. I’ve read a few of Stephen King books. I’m a fan of Idris Elba. So, this should be a good movie?
I felt that they didn’t explain how the “Man in Black” came to be. I understand that there are 7 books in the series and it seemed that they fast forward things in the movie.
The special effects were good but not “awesome”. I liked the movie. As I was watching Idris on the screen, I kept thinking to myself…he would make a great James Bond. =]
By the way, there was only 5 of us on a Thursday, 2:45 pm showing.
Odd title for a movie. Judging by the trailer, it wasn’t that appealing to me, but hubby wanted to see it, so why not?
This movie was AWESOME! The driving and chase scenes were spectacular! The chase scene in the movie “Popeye Doyle” was memorable, but this one should be noted as well.
It had humor, drama and bloody scenes. Ansel Elgort was perfect playing “Baby”. Every time I see Lily James as his love interest, “Debora”, I associate her as “Cinderella” because she played her in the live action movie. Jamie Foxx played of course a smart ass, Bats. John Hamm played one of the robbers, Buddy, who I won’t give it away, but this guy you can’t seem to get rid of. Eliza Gonzalez plays Buddy’s gf/wife?, Darling. She is one tough cookie.
Note: search in YouTube for James Corden riff off with Jamie Foxx and Ansel Elgort. I know Jamie Foxx can sing, but to my surprise Ansel sings too! He’s not bad at all.
I’ve read a few books written by Stephen King (Needful Things) and I’m familiar with the movies and television shows that were based on his books and short stories.
Television shows such as “Haven” based on King’s Colorado Kid was cancelled and “Under the Dome” were cancelled. I’ve watched both shows and I liked them. But I’ve never read the books.
Latest television show is “The Mist”. Another shorty story, the show takes place 10 years after the movie theatre version back in 2007. Judging by the commercial, it seems a bit gory and true horror. I’m not sure if I’m going to watch this one.
The Dark Tower series will makes it theatre debut on August 4th. I just bought the book, so that I know the plot. I saw the trailer and it looks GOOD. I can’t wait!
This movie was cute, funny and entertaining. Of course the first one was good but this one wasn’t that bad either. I liked both! =]
Baby Groot was ADORABLE and full of mischief.
There was some touching moments and a sad one too but I won’t give it away. Looking forward to seeing them in “Avengers: Infinity War”next year. That is going to be one powerful movie with super hero overload!
